Ultra Violet interior design.

Meditative, fascinating, and mysterious: the Pantone color of 2018 is the mystical Ultra Violet

Code name 18-3838. It’s not a secret agent, it’s the number of the Pantone Color 2018. As it does every year, the American company that classifies colors has elected its Color of the Year. Ultra Violet 18-3838 was chosen for the New Year, ready to make a splash in haute-couture, design and make-up. Here is what it represents, and why it was chosen as Color of the Year 2018.

Pantone Color 2018: Ultra Violet because…

Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos Pantone declared. The Color of the Year 2018 is an “inventive and imaginative” color, capable of stimulating imagination and creativity, but also our spiritual side. The contemporary world needs fresh air to imagine unprecedented routes and create innovative solutions. “Visionary thinking” is a precious ally in this endeavor, one you must nourish and second. Ultra Violet is a brilliant, certainly nonconformist color. Purple is also the color of meditation, introspection, and awareness. Despite what the superstitious might say, it deserves the throne of Pantone Color 2018.

Pantone Color 2018: Ultra Violet in interior design

So Ultra Violet favors reflection and genius. But how can you fit it into your furnishing? A color like this is surely going to stand out, so we recommend caution. Even a single element, like a piece of furniture or a rug, can give new personality to the room. If you feel more audacious, you can use Ultra Violet to paint a wall, a baseboard, or a flush-to-the-wall door. The contrast with White, Pearl, and Ivory is certainly very effective. Other possible combinations, which you can use even with textiles, are Cream, Silver, and Light Pink. Feminine and eccentric with Fuchsia, it becomes enigmatic when combined with Blue. It is also perfect paired with Yellow and 2017’s Greenery, its semi-complementary color.
